Malta may be a small island nation, but there’s so much to do in our country to change things up from your daily routine! We’re here to give you some ideas of things to do in Malta – even in the winter! Malta’s not only great during the summer, but there are tons of things to do in Malta in the winter season too!

Things to do in Malta - Hike

1. Go on a Hike!

Malta still has some nature out there, so grab your car and hike around Għajn Tuffieħa or Top of the World in Għargħur! Take a break from everyday life and destress by immersing yourself in nature.

2. Watch a Movie at Eden Cinema

If you’re looking for the ultimate movie experience, don’t stay at home – visit Eden Cinemas at St. Julian’s! Not only does Eden Cinemas have the cheesiest nachos and the crunchiest popcorn, but they’ve also got the best quality screens in Malta. They also show the latest movies so you’ll always be up to date with what’s out!

3. Visit the Lascaris War Museum in Valletta

Be a tourist in your own country and check out a museum! Few people know that Malta was of high importance during WWII. If the Axis forces took over Malta, the results of the war would be very different. Since we were a colony of the UK at the time, British and American troops were stationed in Malta. The Lascaris War Rooms are really cool because that’s where the troops planned and strategized! So, learn a bit more about Malta’s history and check out the war rooms!

4. Organise a Picnic

On a nice, hot day with the sun beating bright, why not head to the beach and have a picnic with some friends? Put together a delicious charcuterie board featuring a mix of international and local flavours—grapes, different cheeses, cold cuts, jams, and crackers, alongside traditional Maltese treats like galletti (crunchy water biscuits), kunserva (sweet tomato paste), and bigilla (a rich broad bean dip). With so many beaches in Malta, you can make the most of the island’s amazing weather all year round. Instead of just tanning or swimming, a beach picnic is a perfect way to relax and indulge in great food with great company.

5. Try Out a Wine-Tasting Experience

Check out one of Malta’s many wineries and try out some local wine that is to die for! A wine-tasting experience is not only a great way to invest in a local business but it’s also fun to get tipsy while trying something different in your own country. No need to go to France or Italy – Malta offers so much!
